Townsend Area Chamber Prepares for Annual ATV Run June 7

MT43 News Staff Reporter

Townsend Area Chamber of Commerce members are gearing up to host their annual ATV run in three weeks, despite being without presidential leadership.

The co-presidents, Jenni Fellenz and Keith Hartman, who have both moved out of town, have left the leadership position open for the Chamber. The board is currently soliciting for someone to take the position, according to Vice President Doug Breker.

The ATV run has garnered $60,753 since its inception. Those funds were donated to Broadwater County’s first responders. Last year, the Chamber awarded three $3,100 checks to the Broadwater Rural Fire Department, the Ambulance, and Search and Rescue Unit, according to Rachael Brug, Secretary of the group. The event saw around 300 participants last year who enjoyed traversing the set trail through the Elkhorns and the Big Belts.

Chamber member Doug Sitton said they will be soliciting for sponsorship tables for the event, which ends at the Fairgrounds following the run. Sponsorship tables are $100 each. American Legion Post #42 will provide food and the bar for the event. Registration is on the Facebook page and on Eventbrite.

In other news, at the Thursday meeting, which was held at Century 21 office, Brug reported on the new digital sign on Front Street: “People are really interested in using the sign for their advertising. New members are allowed two free weeks of advertising, then the cost is $50 per week to use it. Advertising on the digital sign is one of the perks of being a Chamber member. We also offer non-profit memberships."

Plans are in place to build a new website for the Chamber, Brug said. Sitton pointed out the importance of people using the new sign. “When the business community uses the sign, it becomes a vital part of bringing residents as well as tourists into Townsend to shop, tour and use our facilities,” he said.
