Rocky's Senior Companion Program

Featuring Rocky's Senior Companion Program!
Rocky’s Senior Companion Program connects volunteers age 55+ with older adults who need a little extra support with day-to-day tasks. From sharing stories to lending a helping hand, these companions make it possible for folks to continue living independently in the comfort of their own homes.
Right now, 36 amazing volunteers are serving across seven counties—building friendships, brightening days, and making a real difference in our communities.
Catching up with our Senior Companions!
At Rocky’s recent Volunteer Appreciation Party, three incredible Senior Companions shared what volunteering means to them—and reminded us just how powerful connection can be.
Shelli told us, “This program has been so rewarding! I feel happiest when I know my companions feel heard. On my days off, I miss it and look forward to going back.
Patricia shared how the program has changed her routine and her spirit: “Without this program, I probably wouldn’t leave my apartment. It gets me out into the sunshine.”
Rita, who has been with the program for eight years, said volunteering gave her purpose again after a health diagnosis forced her to retire. “I couldn’t handle just sitting at home. Now, I help one client get to church every Sunday, another to the library each week, and some I simply visit and spend time with.”
Their stories are a wonderful reminder that while our volunteers give their time, they receive just as much in return—friendship, fulfillment, and purpose.
Senior Companion Volunteer Testimonial
“My name is Betty, and I’ve been a Senior Companion volunteer for nine years. I love being a lifeline for seniors facing loneliness. Over the years, I’ve seen amazing changes—clients who were once isolated now have routines, outings, and joy again. I help with rides to the store or doctor, or we just get ice cream and enjoy the park. Most of all, they want someone to talk to and laugh with. I’ve made lifelong friends through this work. Our seniors are our teachers, and it’s my duty to do what I can.” – Betty
