Tree Board Preparing for Arbor Day/Weekend
Patrick Plantenberg
Tree Board Chair
The Townsend Tree Board is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2025. The City of Townsend has been designated as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for the 25th year!
The Townsend Tree Board is celebrating Arbor Day, Thursday, May 1. The Tree Board will announce the winners of the 2025 5th-grade Arbor Day Poster Contest and will plant a tree with the 5th-grade students and teachers. Tree planting will continue throughout the weekend of May 2 through May 4th.
The Tree Board will be planting many new trees in Broadwater County and in Townsend on public property in April and May with the help of our second Carbon Reduction Fund project from Graymont. Broadwater County High School horticulture class students and 4H Exchange Club and Future Farmers of America (FFA) Club members will be helping pot and plant the new trees. The Tree Board also received another small grant from Backyards of Broadwater County to plant trees this year.
The Tree Board invites you to help celebrate Arbor Day and the Tree Board’s 35th Anniversary by planting trees now for future generations to enjoy in Broadwater County.
