Saturday, March 29, students flooded the doors of the high school in their dresses and tuxes to dance the night away. The juniors who hosted chose “A Night on Olympus” as the theme. The columns and flowers perfectly represented the theme and the hours of preparation were all worth it. The weeks prior were royalty nominations and voting. Seniors Sawyer Horne, Deegan Mattson, Nolan Flynn, and Eric Humphreys were nominated as candidates for prom king. Prom queen candidates included seniors Abby Wickens, Kaycee White, Carsyn O’Dell, and Madelyn Schritz. The prince candidates were juniors Trenton Hoveland, Gavin Schmele, Parker Hunt, and Trace Giomi. Princess candidates were juniors Aspen Slyker, Holly Newman, Taylor Cartwright, and Kaitlyn Noyes.

Senior Eric Humphreys was chosen Prom King. He attended the prom with one of his closest friends, Sawyer Horne. The boys walked out in their matching suits as they waited for the King to be announced. Eric described the dance as ‘epic’. Eric was one of the liveliest people on the dance floor. Every slow song that played, Eric would dance with Sawyer, and every other song he could be found jumping and dancing to the music with his group of friends. He said, “This was probably the best prom I’ve been to. I’ve been to three and this one was a lot of fun.”

Prom Queen, Madelyn Schritz, is also a senior. She spent the night just hanging out with her friends and making more memories as she finishes her last year of high school. She described the dance as ‘lighthearted’. This couldn’t be more accurate as the entire student body was jumping up and down with people that they normally would not be able to have a conversation with on a normal day. During ‘Fishing in the Dark’, everyone sat down in two lines and did the sitting dance that goes along with it. Her personal favorite part of the dance was getting to swing dance. She said, “I definitely saved the best for last. It was a good end to the high school dance experience.”

The Prom Prince was Trace Giomi. Trace had fun with his friends who came to the dance. He described the environment as fun, which couldn't fit better. At one point there was a circle on the dance floor where someone would go in and dance for a brief time and everyone would cheer. It seemed like everyone was around one student and everyone was cheering them on. Trace's favorite part was getting to dance. He said, "It was good. There were a lot more people dancing this year. All of the songs were good."

This was Kaitlyn Noyes’ first prom ever and she was crowned the princess. She had a great night and was able to do her favorite line dance to "Fishing in the Dark", where she sat and helped teach people how to do it. Her favorite part was being able to experience prom for the first time and getting the opportunity to be prom princess. She described the dance saying, "The environment was very fun and lighthearted, everyone was just dancing and having fun with their friends."

The juniors did a fantastic job with the theme and setting up, and everyone appreciated the effort the chaperones and class put into it.
