The Broadwater Bulldog track team traveled to Frenchtown for their opening meet on Saturday, March 29th.
The large meet hosted 30 teams from class A, B and C and is one of few meets with separate Varsity and Junior Varsity divisions.
Many athletes shortened their day to return for BHS Prom, but with our large team there was still lots of action. Junior Kaitlyn Noyes placed first and second in the long and triple jump, while establishing state-qualifying distances, as well as punching her ticket to state in the 100-meter dash.
Sophomore Kyla Meissner finished 2nd/4th in 1600/800-meter runs and is qualified at the longer distance for state competition.
Upperclassmen have had many meets in their careers and should feel confident with establishing their personal bests (PR) at their season-opener, which is what Gavin Schmele and Kaelyn Sangray both did; he in the shot put and her in the 1600-meter run.
Boys' Varsity scored 13 points, while the JV tallied 2. The Girls' Varsity team took 6th place overall (and top class B team) with 49 points and their JV counterparts scored 9. Individual results are as follows:
