Family of Geoff Guinn
Geoff Guinn passed away suddenly at his home in Radersburg, MT, on March 4th,2025, while preparing to work outside on a beautiful sunny morning. He was 73 years old.
Geoff was born October 24th,1951, to John Wesley and Virginia Arletta Guinn at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD. He joined two older sisters, Beverle and Theo. He always thought it was so unfair that they each had a brother and a sister but he just had two sisters.
Geoff was raised in Maryland and graduated from Robert E Perry High school in 1969. Soon after, he married Diane McDaniel and was hired by the US Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, DC, where he was employed for the next 10 years. Together, they welcomed Aleksandr (Alek) on Dec 28th, 1978. Geoff was thrilled to have a son after missing out on a brother! They moved to Montana in 1981 but were divorced shortly after.
Geoff was hired at the Trident Cement Plant, just out of Three Forks in February of 1982. He continued to work there for 30 years, retiring in 2012. Geoff made many lasting friendships at Trident and he truly enjoyed his job, his work, and his work friends!
Geoff met his Best Friend and Love of his life, Mary-Jo (Jo) Vickers in January of 1983 and they were married on April 20th,1985. They lived in Helena for 3 years and then Geoff got his wish and they moved just outside of Radersburg, where they have lived for the past 37 years.
Geoff loved the Radersburg area, the Crow Creek Valley and most of all the Elkhorn Mountains just behind their home. Geoff knew every mountain road and every dirt road in the valley and was often seen with his wife on those roads in his 71 Chevy pickup, “Ole Blue,” and 2 or 3 dogs in the back.
Geoff loved nature and all animals and birds.
Geoff is survived by his wife, Jo Guinn of Radersburg; two sisters, Beverle Sweitzer, Gaithersburg MD and Theo (Ken) Hancock of Keedysville MD; son, Alek (Melissa) Guinn; grandkids, Natalie and Jackson of Ocala Florida; and last but not least, his two pups Rikki and Rex.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Geoff’s life will take place at a later date.
Big Sky Cremations has assisted the family.
