The Montana Aviation Convention was held in Missoula last weekend.
Local pilot Bob Hollister was honored by the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration. He was awarded with the Wright Brothers' Master Pilot Award for Fifty Years of Dedicated Service in Aviation Safety.
Bob was one of five Montana recipients of the FAA Wright Brothers Award. Bob accepted the award before a crowd of over 500 attendees during the Awards Luncheon. Bob started flying in a Cessna 150 in November of 1974 and obtained his private pilot license in June 1975. He purchased his current plane, a Cessna 182 in 1963.
Bob thanked his family for all of their support. He is ever mindful of his very capable, map reading, supportive right hand seater Marilyn.
He and his family have flown all around Montana and the US. As of September 2024, Bob has accumulated 3223 hours of pilot in command flying.
He says that at times it seems just like yesterday that he started flying, Time flies when you're having Fun. Bob states, "I still enjoy climbing into 3584Y for a long or short hop and the freedom of flight".
Bob is currently serving as the vice chairman of the Broadwater County Airport Board.
