Just Folks!
(No “celebrities” or Politicians were offended by this article!) I have an interesting theory. I know (Big surprise, eh?) I want to talk about US; just US folks. We all have our interests and things we do well. This does NOT set us apart, or worse “above” others. If you wish to consider yourself a celebrity, go for it. Look in that mirror and preen and dance, even sing. Nobody will stop you, (except maybe nearby neighbors who get upset with all the squalling that sounds like cats fighting.)
I’m sure all of us are celebrities in our own minds, that’s actually a healthy attitude to stay positive. Keeping yourself in a positive state of mind is healthy! HOWEVER, (you knew this was coming, didn’t you?) have you noticed that when you turn on the idiot box….I mean the television or computer, the first thing that comes up is: “Oh what a beautiful dress Taylor wore to the Emmies or Oscars. Oh, look at how UNDER DRESSED so and so was, with their see-through gown. WHO CARES? Unless you have designed a dress that one of these celebrity brats are wearing, you should have zero interest in what the newest “Hollywood” diva, or as I call them “Dancing Monkeys” do.
They have not even the slightest interest or care about any of “US” average, regular people. UNLESS their toilet plugs up with too many makeup brushes being thrown into it. Or the electricity shorts out in their mansion because too many blow dryers are on at once. They NEED average folks, the blue-collar people who actually have a job, and a great vocation. After the problem is fixed, they’ll say “here is an autographed photo for you”. (You don’t actually expect me to pay you, do you?) Oh yeah, nothing but class.
In a place like our town, we are loaded with “Just Folks”. We see them every day. They pour our coffee, (in my case Pepsi). They serve up our lunches, check our “rigs,” (That’s Montanan for trucks/cars/etc.) Regular folks who are always around and taking care of our town people. These are our neighbors and friends. The average American town people, you know “US”. Yep, we are everywhere. We ARE the town folks you hear about in song and story. The people you see, as “extras” in movies that are trying to portray average “citizens” you know…..Just Folks! And we are darned glad to be. (No Squirrels were harmed in the writing of this article.)
