A different style of swing, with the ability to accommodate a wheelchair, was required for a Townsend Elementary School student to be able to experience the thrill of riding a swing. The student does not have to be lifted from a wheelchair to the swing as the wheelchair is hooked safely to the swing.

Former Elementary Principal, Christina Hartmann approached the Lions about purchasing the swing, which they were happy to do.

The task of assembling the $1,900 swing was handed to Jim Riddle. Following the easy-to-assemble instructions was like learning two different languages as it was hard to understand what the written instructions were trying to communicate. It took a while, but Jim was up to the task and the assembled swing was installed on the school playground. A huge smile was displayed when the student took the first ride.

The Lions are happy to contribute to the enjoyment experienced by those who need this style of swing.
