Wrestling:
Nick Humphreys has improved immensely this season going from a freshman that was 0-2 last year at the divisional tournament to becoming a state qualifier as a sophomore. He has put in a lot of work this season and I am excited to see how deep of a run he can make at state in Billings.
Girls’ Basketball:
Holly Newman, a junior, had a fast-paced week of basketball. First up were the Manhattan Tigers on Friday. In the first quarter, Holly contributed three points to the early lead for the Lady Bulldogs. Holly was able to shut down Manhattan’s best offensive player. Holly and her teammates maintained their momentum and never looked back in their win against the Tigers. Overall, Holly scored 11 of the Lady Bulldogs’ 57 points, shooting 50% from the free-throw line, 40% on two-pointers, and 40% on three-pointers. She also added two assists and three defensive rebounds. Next up were the Lone Peak Bighorns on Saturday. Holly went on a streak, contributing 12 of the team’s 21 points in the first quarter. The Lady Bulldogs put up 71 points in their win over the Bighorns, with Holly contributing 25 of those points. She shot 33% from the free-throw line, an impressive 73% on two-pointers, and 33% on three-pointers. Holly also added three assists, two steals, and both one offensive and one defensive rebound.
Boys Basketball:
Trenton Hoveland is this week's player of the week for the Boys Basketball team. The Bulldogs had two great games this week defeating Manhattan and Lone Peak by double digits! Trenton is a key player and captain that we all lean on when it matters most. It was amazing to hear the gym roaring when he hit two very clutch shots down the stretch on Senior Night on Saturday against Lone Peak. He is a guy that will do anything that is asked of him day in and day out. When people are tired at practice he gives them energy and uplifts everyone's mentality! We are excited to keep this momentum going and it is a lot easier to do that as a team when you have players like Trenton Hoveland. Congrats Tub!
