Our Town is Changing!
Everything changes. However, most changes are good though we might not see it that way at first. With the influx of people from other places we have different views and beliefs brought to our attention. But morality and work ethic should never change!
Examples: this last weekend several people in our community slipped and fell on the ice that is on every street corner in town. This happens and without sanding/salting every single street corner it’s going to happen. We just need to be careful, especially as WE get older. Many folks have hit the ice this week, (even me) and while attempting to get up from the ice a few cars and trucks drive by without even slowing down! WHAT HAPPENED to helping your neighbors?
I remember writing on here a few years ago about trying to load a huge box of apples into my pickup truck, a friendly Townsend resident drove by and helped me. The “neighborly” thing to do. Is this changing? Is it because many people from “elsewhere” are moving in, and don’t feel the help thy neighbor spirit? I’m not sure, but it takes away from the whole feeling of small Montana town spirit.
One other thing that is going on, (like you needed more problems dumped on you) how many of you have had problems getting mail/packages delivered? (put your hands down, there won’t be a test). I’m not talking about our local postal service (mostly.) But mail and packages from UPS, and the United Postal Service have been sent back to the companies they came from with “cannot deliver” stamped on them. What kind of happy horse hockey is this? We have a great postal setup in Townsend, with our banks of mailboxes for each block in town. The folks at our local Post Office usually do a great job, however, even they are just human and can’t always keep up with all the regulations' craziness.
It's bad enough the USPS has to send a letter, or package from Billing to Great Falls, to Helena, THEN here to Townsend. What politician thought that route up? (IF this were a doctor, I’d call it fee splitting.) Even if you put something in the mailbox here in town, GOING TO Townsend, it still has to go to Great Falls! (the old Military term: “like watching a monkey F a football”) comes to mind.
So “neighbors” help one another out! Help the Post Office out; clarify your address! Make sure IF someone USED to live at your address, that the Postal Personnel KNOW they are no longer at your address. With US humans running things, “stuff” can get messed up easily. Speak/Write/…Text? CLEARLY! (And teach the young uns how to WRITE Cursive! You can’t sign a check by Printing.) Walk around, and enjoy our town, CAREFULLY!
