This week felt like it dragged on forever. I had so much homework and so many tasks that I couldn’t catch a break, yet each day seemed to stretch endlessly. By the time night rolled around, all I wanted to do was collapse into bed, whether I had unfinished work or not. It’s not like my schedule is particularly grueling—my earliest wake-up time is after 7 AM, I attend at most four classes a day, and if I wanted to, I could be in bed by 9 PM. On paper, my routine looks manageable, even easy. But there’s a reason I crash from exhaustion every night. To give some context, here’s a rundown of my Tuesday.
I woke up at 7 AM, giving myself an hour to get ready in case any unexpected situations came up. With thirty minutes to spare before my first class, I wrapped myself in a blanket and scrolled through social media. My day officially started with Intro to Animal Sciences, after which I speed-walked to the bus stop for a 10-minute ride to Downtown Fargo for my Intro to Entrepreneurship class. The lecture on finance and marketing was engaging, but by the end, my brain felt fried.
Grabbing a salad and a cold brew, I caught a ride back to campus, where I quickly ate and started tackling assignments for one of my online classes. Then it was off to Biology 2, followed immediately by Biology lab. My in-person classes wrapped up at 4 PM, and at that point, I usually take a walk to the dining center and settle into the coffee shop to chip away at more homework. I spent a few hours there, knocked out a few assignments, ate dinner, and eventually returned to my dorm. After a shower, I dove back into homework, finally finishing around 9:30 PM.
Looking at my schedule, it’s clear I stay busy. Physically, it’s not demanding—I spend most of my time sitting, listening, reading, or writing. But mentally, my brain is constantly running at full speed. When the weeks feel this long, I try to find small ways to make my day more enjoyable. That cold brew, for example, was a fun little treat, especially since I don’t often buy coffee instead of making it myself. It doesn’t make the week move any faster, but those small joys give me a bit of excitement and motivation to keep pushing forward. No matter how exhausting the week feels, I remind myself that each challenge I overcome is another step toward my goals, even if it takes a quick pick-me-up to keep me working.
