City Seeks Appointee for Ward I Council Seat

Townsend’s City Council is still seeking letters of interest from residents of Townsend’s Ward I City Council seat, which has been vacant for the last several months.
Heather Healea, who was appointed to fill the council seat vacated by Valerie Baraza last summer, moved from the ward in late 2024 and resigned her post.
Ward I extends north of Broadway from the east side of North Cedar Street east to Harrison Avenue. Potential appointees must reside within those boundaries in order to be eligible for appointment.
Those interested can contact the city office in person or at 406-266-3911 for more information. Townsend’s City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Council members also participate in subcommittees focusing on topics from fireworks to city ordinance review.
