The Radersburg Historical Preservation, Inc. held the first annual Radersburg Ramble on Saturday, January 25th. The 10K (6.2 mile) distance had ten registered runners and the 5K (3.1 mile) distance had twenty-four participants. The morning was beautiful and crisp, with freezing fog rolling in just after the start of the 5K. Check-in was inside the Radersburg Historic School, where volunteers gathered before heading out on the course to man the aid stations, record finisher times; others stayed inside and prepared post-race refreshments. The energy was high and people were in good spirits as each race commenced by the ringing of the school bell.
The first 10K finisher was Grayson Murphy of Bozeman, with a time of 38:40 (female division). The first place male 10K finisher was Steven Crawford of Helena with a time of 57:20. The first 5K finisher for the female division was Becky Lang with a time of 29:42 and Josh Pfund (male division) with a time of 30:13. Some participants ran with their dogs, others with friends, and some with a significant other. There were smiles and relief as everyone came across the finish line in front of the school after taking in the scenery of the surrounding Elkhorn Mountains. The races saw participants from areas around Montana. Locally, participants represented Townsend, Toston, Three Forks, Bozeman, Belgrade, Helena, and Elliston as well as from further away (Boulder, Livingston, Miles City, Phillipsburg).
The race would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, donors, and advertising platforms. Those donors/sponsors included: Bob’s Market in Townsend, Rocky Mountain Supply in Townsend, Pintail Salon, Bunkhouse Bar, JR Tonjum Realtor, Montana Economic & Tourism Grant, Leachman Angus Ranch, Elkhorn Tiny Homes, ACE Hardware Belgrade, and the Mays-Walton Families. Those who helped with advertising were: Outside Bozeman, Bunkhouse Bar, and V-42 Fitness in Townsend & Three Forks.
A special thank you to our volunteers who helped with the event prior to and on race day by providing support on the course, checking in participants, and providing post-race refreshments: Victor Sample, Broadwater County Sheriff, Judy Seiler, Matz Family, Georgia Bobo, Savannah Emge, Jayne Mays, Doris Wile, Natalie Ross.
We look forward to the 2026 Radersburg Ramble and hope you will consider participating or supporting this event in some way! The next Ramble will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
