Climate Change? Yeah, Every 20 Minutes!

Now I’m a reasonable guy, (mostly) however I know from extensive study over the years, that the seasons follow one another. Yes, and they all have their own time of year, this I have come to understand over 7 decades of watching nature and experiencing the seasons. Until now, I have always accepted that some seasons are hot, some cold. In between they are warm and cool….I am writing this article Sunday the 26th of January, so I “KNOW” it should be cold out, especially here in Montana…RIGHT?

(This is where that invisible gameshow host, presses the buzzer.) BUZZZ and yells “Wrong answer, but thank you for playing!” From Friday morning Townsend has experienced: early winter, late fall, and deep winter. Saturday through today, we have had late fall, winter and DEEP winter. THIS afternoon we have a bright blue sky, incredible sunshine, and COLD! No matter how beautiful the ice-covered trees are, the air is freezing! Now I have made jokes about Mother Nature being off her meds before, but this is just plain insane. There have been a few days where Nature decides I’m tired of waiting for the other seasons to catch up, I’m going to make ALL 4 seasons fight it out! Let the ice and snow, battle with the blazing sun and rain. The wind has its own agenda, (that’s why around here it’s just called the “W”.)

Consequences of different weather are: not enough snow/rain? Fires. Too much of either, are flooding and crops ruined. Hmmm, maybe that’s why Mom Nature is a bit cranky? She can’t get a break from ALL us human being-type people griping about the weather. Well,” EXCUSE ME!” can’t we get a little bit of…. MELLOW? (Nobody ever says, “It’s too medium out.”)

For the most part, I enjoy the weather around here, (again: we can all do without the “W”) When you step out of your home, look up at the mountains. Mount Baldy (named after Me.) is covered with a beautiful cap of snow, the sky is bright blue and the Squirrels are chasing each other around the nut box. After a while, there will be GREEN peeking out all over, but still beautiful snow in the mountains. THAT is something to behold!

I guess as long as Mom Nature gives us scenery like this, we can tolerate a bit of “multi-polar actions". Go enjoy the cool and snowy weather, stay warm and well-fed. Tis the time to pig out, uh I mean eat comfort foods and stay well.
