A seminar focusing on how to effectively reach out to local, county, state and federal government will be held at the Library Community Room from 7-9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Titled “Civic Education Beyond Election Day: How to make government listen,” the seminar was organized by Audrey Martin.
During the Jan. 8 Broadwater County Commission meeting, Martin explained that the workshop would include discussion of “how to testify before the Legislature, how to reach out to elected officials.” She invited members of the commission to attend and share how best to participate in county government.
“I know many of us have been working on this for years as we hear routinely from the public that they’re not connected to the government, they don’t feel connected or they don’t know how to participate, and then we have some decorum issues, and it kind of snowballs from there,” Martin said.
Martin told the commission that her goal in organizing the workshop was to “be part of the solution.”
Martin has extensive experience working and participating in government affairs at the local, state and federal levels. For more information, she can be contacted at 406-281-3533 or by email at alwalleser@yahoo.com.
