Logan Barkhurst! A big round of applause for junior Logan Barkhurst, who stole the show at our home meet in Townsend on January 11! Logan’s hilarious Mime piece, Jaws: A Love Story, had the audience and judges in stitches, earning her first place in her category. Her exceptional comedic timing, creativity, and physical storytelling make her a standout performer. Congratulations, Logan—you’ve set the bar high and brought the laughs in waves!
Wrestling:
Talon Schulte is the athlete of the week. He wrestled some hard matches under the light at the Harry Hall mixer and had a record of 2-1. I'm excited to see what he will do at the B/C duals and the copper shamrock our last two home events at the end of January.
Girls’ Basketball:
Cassidy Flynn is a senior and a power under the basket, as well as one of our outside shooters. Against the Manhattan Tigers, Cassidy contributed 8 points, with 50% accuracy in her three point shots and 100% at the free throw line. She also contributed three defensive rebounds. The next day saw Cassidy really on a roll against the Lone Peak Bighorns. Cassidy contributed 17 of our 61 points, with 40% accuracy for her three point shots, 50% with her two pointers and 50% at the free throw line. Rounding out her game, Cassidy pulled down rebounds, two offensive and one defensive.
Boys' Basketball:
Deegan Mattson is this week's best player. Deegan works very hard in practice in all aspects of the game. This week against Manhattan and Lone Peak we were all amazed at everything Deegan was doing. From having to guard Manhattan's and Lone Peak's best scorers to rebounding and scoring, Deegan was our leader with 25 points and 18 rebounds Deegan also led the team with 7 deflections and also 2 steals and 1 block. We know that the earth is 71% covered by water and that Deegan Mattson covers the rest. Congrats Deegan!
