On Saturday, January 25, 2025, the Radersburg Historical Preservation, Inc. (RHPI) will be hosting the first annual Radersburg Ramble.
This community event will feature a 5K & 10K road race, starting at the Historic Radersburg School and following Crow Creek Road to the north. This event will give participants the opportunity to visit the community of Radersburg while also taking in the beautiful scenery of the surrounding countryside and Elkhorn Mountains rising in the background.
Participants, volunteers, and spectators will be able to experience the rural tight-knit community that was once a thriving mining town, discover the history of Radersburg through the archives inside the school, and interact with the community though conversation and attendance at this event.
The Race Director for this event, Karen Walton, lives on Main Street in Radersburg and is a member of RHPI. An avid runner, outdoor enthusiast, and community-minded local, Karen has always wanted to organize a race. Since running her first 5K at age 11, she has competed in distances up to a marathon, completed a half- Ironman triathlon, and currently supplements her exercise through Cross Fit classes in Townsend.
Having run winter races in Montana at the half-marathon distance, she recognized that most people do not want to participate in a distance that far. Additionally, the Montana race calendar is quiet in the winter months and the Radersburg Ramble gives people the opportunity to support the community, fulfill a New Year’s resolution, or simply have something to look forward to. This event is for people of all ages and in any physical shape. You can decide to run or walk either of the courses.
With only a week left before the event, get registered to participate by visiting https://www.radersburgramble.org
For those that want to volunteer, reach out to Karen at mtvmontessori@gmail.com
No matter what the weather, the Radersburg Ramble is sure to delight anyone who comes out to be part of this inaugural event!
We want to thank our many sponsors who have helped to make this event possible and RHPI for hosting the event. Every race participant receives a custom beanie and swag bag filled with goodies. Post-race refreshments will recharge you and your supporters as well as give you an opportunity to explore the historic school and surrounding area.
Check out our Facebook page (Radersburg Ramble) for pictures and extras related to the event. We hope to see you there on January 25th!
