Rotary Holiday Light Contest Winners Selected

Each year, the Rotary Club of Townsend encourages community residents to decorate their homes for the Holidays. Rotary offers a cash award: First place = $100, Second place = $50, and Third place = $25. As always, the judges had trouble deciding what homes to select as there are some great displays again this year.
The 2024 winner is Adam and Roxanne Six located at 202 N. Harrison. Drive by and see the wonderful decorations covering the home and yard!
Second place is Valerie Baraza at 407 N. Maple north of Fourth Street. Valerie has decorated three large spruce trees which dominate the view at the end of North Maple. Great job! How she managed to put lights into those tall spruce trees is baffling! They look wonderful!
Third place is the Isaac and Latasha Wirtz family at 313 North Cherry. The judges were impressed with the stylish yet simple way the family displayed the lights around the house on the corner lot.
The judges could not resist selecting two honorable mention displays they liked this year. The first one is at the home of Steve and Jenny Rushford at 301 N. Walnut. They have an old Ford pickup decorated in the driveway with a Christmas tree decorated in the back of the truck. Very creative and very appropriate for the family of John Rushford. The second honorable mention display is the decorated tractors at 302 S. Front Street by the potato cellars. The tractors have been in the Christmas Stroll parade for several years and it is great to see them displayed for the rest of the season for the public to enjoy.
