A unique idea for a raffle fundraiser sprung from the Family Promise organizers during the Thanksgiving holiday. They offered two prizes $500 each which would assist Townsend residents who need help paying their water bills, according to Community Service Administrator Leslie Heisey.
In addition, two $100 gas gift cards were offered through the raffle. Terry Burgess won a gas card. She purchased her ticket at the Fish Tale. Chase Campbell purchased his ticket at Opportunity Bank.
Winners of the water bill tickets were Yvonne Satliff who purchased her ticket at Opportunity Bank here in town, and Kennith Westerguard.
Westerguard, who does not live in Townsend, had bought the ticket at the Bunkhouse Bar at Toston. Westerguard generously donated his winning ticket back suggesting they award it “to someone who needs it”.
Heisey thanked the businesses who also participated in the raffle including Townsend Hardware and Reading Leaves Bookstore.
Family Promise of Greater Helena, Townsend and Broadwater County is an emergency assistance program that provides groceries, gasoline and rent to families in need. For more information please call (406) 465-9467.
