This past week was my first time going home in four months, and I couldn’t wait to be home. I spent Monday and Tuesday cleaning my room, catching up on homework, and taking care of absolutely everything that needed to be done. Therefore, when 6 a.m. rolled around on Wednesday morning, I could grab my suitcase and drive to the airport. The flights were a hassle as all of my connecting flights were delayed for at least an hour, but once I made it home and walked out of the airport to hug my parents, I knew it was worth it.

That evening, I went to Trailhead Christian Fellowship for the Thanksgiving Eve service and spent time with my church family. Talking with them seemed to last forever, and I was incredibly thankful for every bit of it. I was able to come back to the church family that raised me and spend time with Jesus alongside them. Later in the evening, we went back home and I got to say hi to my grandfather who decided to join us for Thanksgiving the next day. At home, the house was full and there was so much conversation to go around.

Thursday was Thanksgiving, and not only did I get to spend it with my family, but I got to spend it eating home-cooked meals. Every Thanksgiving morning, the family sits down to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade and eats pies made the night before for breakfast. After, I spent my day peeling potatoes, spraying the turkey in the smoker, and working on other dishes for our meal that evening. When I wasn’t cooking, I spent the day talking to my family, and helping out wherever help was needed. As we sat down for a meal with our family friends, the Lamb family, and my grandpa, I was so glad to have made the trip over, even if it was only for a few days, to spend time with the people who raised me.

Friday and Saturday were filled with milk deliveries and little chores around the house, taking a break to go to the Movie Theater to watch Moana 2 on Friday and drop me off at the Helena airport on Saturday. The time had gone by so fast, but all of the time meant something so much more. It made me appreciate the family I had back home and who made me who I am today, even though I don’t see them often and am never around. Now I am back to finish the final few weeks of the semester, and I couldn’t feel more recharged than I do right now.
