Ask any college student what it is like to be living college life in the middle of November and they will tell you that they are holding on for dear life. Finals week is just around the corner and everyone is excited for Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break. I am living proof of this feeling. The class load has not decreased, but the routine is as monotonous as ever and I am burned out. Luckily, this week has had some events outside of the normal routine.

On Tuesday at 8 am, I registered for my Spring Semester Classes and was able to register for 17 credits. This next semester I will focus on fulfilling as many Gen Eds as possible and working toward my Agribusiness minor. I will take General Animal Sciences, General Biology 2 w/ Lab, General Chemistry 2 w/ Lab, Intro to Entrepreneurship, and Wellness 111. Unfortunately, I was supposed to also be taking College Composition 2, but I was put on the waitlist. If I do not get into the class this semester I plan to take it during the summer.

On Wednesday night, I attended the Midwest Poultry Consortium event and learned about the poultry industry and the innovations within the industry. I attended with my friends Gwen, Sophia, and Laura. We were also introduced to COE (Center of Excellence Internship Program) where we could attend two summer sessions at either Minnesota State University or Iowa State University to earn 18 credits to be transferred to our college. We would also be required to participate in an internship within the poultry industry. Unfortunately, the path is not within my interest, but having the ability to explore what the poultry industry was about was fulfilling.

On Thursday, I went on a coffee date with my friend Regan and enjoyed each other's company amid the busy season. That evening I got together with my friend group for dinner before going to the weekly Chi Alpha service. Getting to socialize and focus on our Heavenly Father was incredibly uplifting as I waited for the break.

This time of the semester is difficult for everybody, but I know that I am not alone and I can still find ways to balance my school life and my social life to make times more enjoyable. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “If you can’t fly then run if you can’t run then walk if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward,” and even if crawling is the only way I can make it to the semester finish line, I will do it. However, I am going to give my best to finish the race running with encouragement, energized, and more knowledgeable.
