Veterans’ Day
I’m writing this about my father Sergeant First Class Jeremiah Vogl.

Dear Dad:
I hope you know how much I love having a hero as my dad. Most kids love their dad and consider them their heroes but you're an actual real hero and also my hero. Me and Ayden and Iyanna are so lucky to have you as our dad. Most people have a person they look up to and you're mine. By writing this note is my thank you for giving me the freedom I have. I can't express how much I love having you as my father and how you gave up your time with our family to go fight for our freedom. I know it's been hard with Mom's multiple sclerosis and working on our addition to our house so I can have my own room. I am so appreciative of all you have given up to give us our freedom we have today.
It was hard when you were deployed because you missed all holidays that year. You missed my 11th birthday, Iyanna entering the double digits and Ayden turning 9. You were deployed right before our dog Roxy died when she was sick and we had to put her down and how you could say goodbye to her through video call. You have made so many sacrifices for our family and our country, I remember you could only call us every once in a while ‘cause you were defending our country and our freedom. It was extremely hard because we missed you so much but I'm beyond proud and grateful to have you as my dad. The day we picked you up from the airport was the happiest we had that whole year. I remember we made posters and decorated the house and counted down the minutes till you would be home. I also remember how there were a couple people in front of you and how we almost ran over 2 people when we saw you and ran up to hug you.
We got to skip 2 whole weeks of school just to spend time with you when you came home. Even all of mine and my sibling's teachers were happy that you were home. Me and Iyanna and Ayden would always update them on what was happening when you were deployed. Even though me and my siblings had lots of work to make up, it was worth it because having you back meant more to us than anything. We were so happy we didn’t lose you because you were on the front lines and fixing vehicles as bombs were going off. It takes a special type of person to be a soldier and a dad and you are all of those qualities. Even though you embarrass me and we butt heads, I love you and I'm thankful for you and wouldn’t trade you for the world. Thank you for all you do, have done, will do in all sacrifices you have made. For our rights and freedom. Thank you so much for being the best father anyone could ever have.
