Gillette, Galt Apparent Winners in Legislative House and Senate Races

Republican Jane Gillette appears to be victorious over her opponent for the House District 77 race, Democrat Jeremiah Dawson. Early reports show Gillette with 3,686 votes or 80 percent in Broadwater County. Dawson is standing at 915 votes.
Gillette, a Broadwater County resident who lives near Three Forks, is completing her second term in the Legislature representing House District 64 which was phased out through reapportionment. She campaigned heavily in the county reaching out to rural and Townsend residents. She holds a doctoral degree in dentistry and served in the US Air Force.
Her ads touted her as conservative, pointing out she is a member of the legislature’s strong Freedom Caucus. She replaces Julie Dooling who served as representative for Broadwater County in the reapportioned District 69.
In the State Senate race, for District 39 Republican E. Wylie Galt, White Sulphur Springs, with 3,644 votes won against Democrat Bruce Shultz with 79 percent of the county’s votes. Shultz with 955 carried 21 percent of the votes.
