Swenson Apparent Winner of County Commissioner Seat

In a surprise upset, Candidate for County Commissioner District 3 Jesse Swenson,37, is showing a total of 55% of votes by Tuesday night’s counting, over incumbent Darrell Folkvord, 65. Elections Officer Angie Paulsen reported an unofficial result of Swenson’s votes at 2358. Folkvord’s votes showed 1922.
Swenson, a new face in Broadwater County politics is a land surveyor with Schauber and Associates. He has campaigned on bringing a new voice to government and promoting new growth in the county. He has served on several boards and has been area chairman of Ducks Unlimited since 2017.
Folkvord, entering his second term as commissioner, has promoted his last six years’ experience to his success in reaching out to residents about issues that affect them. He felt he would be a good Broadwater County representative testifying at the next legislative session on such issues as property taxes, water rights and subdivision regulations.
