Chicken Poo Bingo Fundraiser A Success

Who has ever heard of such a thing as chicken poo bingo?! It’s just as silly and fun as it sounds! The Broadwater County Social Service Committee (BCSSC) organized a Chicken Poo Bingo fundraising event during Fall Fest which raised over $2,000 to support the organization. BCSSC traditionally held Cow Pie Bingo during the Fair, but some logistics made this challenging, so they transitioned to a chicken-based event during the fall.
Chicken Poo Bingo operates nearly identically to the cow version, although obviously with a different animal. Participants purchase tickets for a number on the bingo grid. If the chicken “poos” on that grid square, then the lucky ticket holder is the winner of the cash prize! Members and organizations of BCSSC sold tickets during and leading up to Fall Fest.
The actual chicken poo event took place on the Sunday of Fall Fest during the car show. It gathered quite a crowd and luckily the chickens didn’t take long to do their business. The lucky winners of the $150 jackpot were Sarah Holland and Joi Preston. Winners of the $75 jackpot were Sheila Heavirland and Siobhan Flynn. Congratulations to the winners! Thank you for supporting BCSSC!
The mission of the Broadwater County Social Services Committee is to promote the well-being of all Broadwater County residents by assisting and developing programs that serve to build a healthy community. They hold monthly meetings that operate as a platform for local organizations to network and collaborate on projects. BCSSC also serves as 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor for several local organizations including the Townsend Farmers Market, Helping Hands and Christmas Connection.
Additionally, BSCCS is actively involved in many local projects and causes. They administer the Kids Count program, which provides school supplies and clothing to school-aged children in need. They also administer the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free monthly books to children under the age of 5 who reside in the county. BSCCS also works closely with the United Way of the Lewis & Clark Area.
The fundraiser was also made possible thanks to the support of local sponsors which included: Townsend Lions Club, Opportunity Bank, C Hanging C Mercantile, J Rock Jewelry, Lewis & Clark Public Health, Bunkhouse Bar & Grill, Townsend Tire, Helping Hands, Bread & Butter Café, The Copy Cup, Bob’s Supermarket and Rocky Mountain Supply.
If you’d like to get involved with BSCCS or learn more about what is happening in the community in human services, the group meets the second Thursday of the month at noon in the back of the Mint. The president is LaTasha Wirtz, past president is Karen Noyes, the vice president is Allison Kosto, the secretary is Alex Larson and the treasurer is Jill Flynn.
