Nash Family

John Francis Nash, known as Jack, 86, of Bozeman, Montana, passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2024, in Bozeman surrounded by family.

Jack was born in 1938 in Townsend, Montana, the son of Dr. Frank and Doris Nash. He was the first baby boy born in the new Townsend hospital where his father was a doctor.

Jack graduated from Broadwater County High School in 1956, where he was an exceptional athlete. He then went on to study at Carroll College and the University of Montana.

Jack joined the United States Army in October 1956 and served until honorably discharged in February 1964.

Jack met the love of his life, Patt Stiles, on February 2nd, 1962, on a blind date in Missoula. Jack and Patt just recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. While living in Missoula, Jack and Patt were blessed with three children: Jeanne Nash, Deanna Nash and Rick (Chantelle) Nash. In 1973, Jack and Patt, with their three children, moved to Bozeman to make a home on the family ranch on Nash Road.

Jack worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service while also running the family ranch. Throughout his life, Jack especially loved his family, hunting, fishing and sports. He adored his three grandchildren Rickey, Ashley and Conner Nash and loved spending countless hours with them on the ranch. The many adventures included driving his grandkids around on the ranch on his four-wheeler. They checked on the cows, collected chicken eggs in a basket and visited his secret fishing holes. Letting the grandkids steer the four-wheeler and practicing their driving skills made cherished memories for a lifetime.

If you knew Jack, you knew he was a legendary storyteller who lived a full and remarkable life. Throughout his life, he went on countless adventures - some of which were a bit more daring than others. His collection of stories, from hair-raising accidents to athletic triumphs, and his ability to turn every misstep into a tale of humor, made him a master storyteller. Jack loved sharing those stories, making everyone around him laugh. These stories will always be remembered by those who were lucky enough to hear them.

Remaining to cherish Jack's memory are spouse, Patt; children, Jeanne, Deanna and Rick (Chantelle); grandchildren, Rickey, Ashley and Conner. Jack was so very loved and is so very missed.

Jack will be buried in Townsend in the Nash family plot at a later date.
