MT43 News Staff Reporter
A large gathering of members of the Tri-County Republican Women’s Club enjoyed lunch at the Mint last Thursday while office candidates presented their platforms.
According to the group’s president, Joy Novota of East Helena, the group features a private forum each election season. Susie Hedalen, candidate for Superintendent of the Office of Public Instruction, Cory Swanson, candidate for Montana Supreme Court Justice and Dan Wilson, candidate Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, spoke to the group.
In addition, Ed Regan, chairman of the Broadwater County Republicans reported on that group’s activities as did Becky Buckmaster, membership chairperson of the Tri-County group.
The group, founded in 2023, represents Republican women in Broadwater, Jefferson and Lewis and Clark Counties. According to Buckmaster, the group meets the second Thursday of every month at different locations in the three counties. For more information go to https://www.tri-countyrwmt.com.
In past years, the Broadwater County Farm Bureau has hosted a public forum for all candidates running for office. According to organizer Missy Cox, the group will not have the forum this year. Farm Bureau had hosted the forum for at least twenty years, Cox noted.
