The week of September 30 to October 4 was a busy one for the Bulldogs. From decorating hallway entrances, floats, and participating in the lunch games, homecoming was a fun week for everyone. On Monday the different grades began putting all of their ideas together and started putting up decorations. The theme for homecoming was Disney- the seniors dressed as princesses, juniors as villains, sophomores as animals, and the freshmen as heroes. With only three days to prepare, some students came in as early as 7 in the morning and stayed as late as 8 in the evening to help their class get points.

Homecoming week is one of the biggest events for Broadwater High School. The grades compete against each other for a pizza party. With such high stakes, the students take it seriously. The dress-up days went with the theme this year. Monday was Sleeping Beauty, or pajama day, Tuesday was Tweedledee and Tweedledum, or twin day, Wednesday was Monsters University, or college gear day, Thursday was Lilo and Stitch, or Hawaiian, and Friday was blue and white day. The percentage of people dressed up for the theme per class determined the points. Other ways to get points were participating in Lunch games and Powder games

The festivities happening Tuesday after school and regular sports practices were the Powder games. The boys participating in PowderBuff- boys playing volleyball-were all for it. Showing up in matching ‘uniforms’ united the boys together. Sophomores took first, Juniors second, Seniors third, and Freshman came in fourth. After the volleyball game, the girls put on black eyes and prepared for the PowderPuff football game. Not only did the girls play flag football, but some boys put on skirts and were cheerleaders to support their class. The football game was eventful, but the Sophomore and Freshman team put a stop on the Junior and Senior team. Junior Kaden Richtmyer described the PowderBuff game saying, “It was a lot of fun! In my heart, we won, but we actually didn't. If volleyball was offered I wouldn’t play. It just wouldn’t be fair to other people.”

Not only did the Powder players have incredible talent and dedication, but so did the actual Broadwater teams. Our volleyball team came out strong and was able to beat the Choteau Bulldogs on Thursday in four sets. The girls fought hard and Captain Aspen Slyker stated, “The gym definitely helped us. Our student section was super hyped and super loud. I always hit a little harder the louder the gym is”.

The football team fought diligently and was able to get a team total of 44 tackles. Our defense came out strong and put a stop multiple times to the Three Forks Wolves. Unfortunately, our boys came up short, but regardless of the score, the Broadwater community is proud of them.

At the end of the week, one class emerged victorious. Congratulations to the Junior class and everyone who poured their heart and soul into making this homecoming week an unforgettable experience!
