Townsend also has a robust middle school running program including grades 6-8, which took to the course for their second meet.
Middle school hoofers run different distances each week depending on how the host can alter the high school route while keeping the starting and finishing lines the same position. Additionally, some of the small schools in our region host meets dedicated to middle school students. This was the case Tuesday, September 17th as our Bulldogs traveled to Montana City.
Seventh grader Kathryn Six led the Lady Bulldogs with a time of 12:51, which was 12th overall and 6th place among her classmates. The rest of the Lady Bulldogs finished as follows: Courtney Webber (14:32) in 23rd, Lydia Brakefield (14:55) in 28th, Anna Busscher (17:39) in 41st, and Erilyn Strait (19:02) in 45th.
The boy’s team was led by Clayton Rice who finished 9th overall and 5th among 8th graders in a time of 11:17. The rest of the team consists of 7th graders Everett Kirksey (14:28) and Jayden Flynn (15:55), who finished in 40th and 50th, respectively.
The middle school team had their first meet of the season at Anaconda on September 13th, but their times and places were not available.
These “littles” will travel with their “bigs” the next two weekends to Missoula and Three Forks, with an additional middle school-only meet in Clancy on Tuesday, October 4th.
