A "Little Library" at The Historic Radersburg Schoolhouse
Victor Sample
High School student Cheyanne Douglas lives in the Radersburg area. In Townsend, Cheyanne saw the Tiny Library on Broadway and felt that kids in the Radersburg area could really use a "Little Library" in their community.
Cheyanne and her grandparents Sam and Sheree Beauchamp attended the July meeting of the Radersburg Historical Preservation (RHPI) group and asked permission to put the "Little Library" at the historic Radersburg Schoolhouse (built in 1913). Cheyanne explained why she thought it was a good idea and that she felt the library would make a great addition to the Radersburg area.
The RHPI board was very impressed with Cheyanne and with her idea; the board unanimously approved the Little Library. Sam Beauchamp said that he would personally build the library and would place it just outside the fence surrounding the schoolhouse.
The Little Library is now established at the Radersburg Schoolhouse and is being used by the local residents!
Thank you, Cheyanne, for showing your community spirit and for making this idea become a reality!
