'Tis the Time of Autumn Festivals
'Tis the time, 'tis the day! We must away, we must Par-Tay! Yea even unto the break of day! The beginning of the Holiday season, at least here in Townsend, MT. Feel it? (Between the blasted hot days.) YES, 'tis the start of our seasonal cool down. (Thank you, God.)
Although a little early for flannel shirts, still it brings the cooler mornings when we all breathe a little easier. Of course, mostly it’s because the smoke is gone but the cool clear mountain air helps us breathe deeper. We around here are NOT an unfriendly folk, it just seems that the heat of summer just causes people, to be a bit edgy. Not quite their happy selves. This takes a nice turn as the mornings start cooler! Cooler is better!
The time of everyone getting into “Fall Fest” mode, is outstanding! The town streets are lined with corn stalks and pumpkins. As well as “scarecrows”, and a few Goblins. It is very special to see visitors to our fair village, when they see all the decorating of shops and businesses. It shows one and all, this is OUR TOWN. Come and enjoy the people, and the “goodies” there are to be had. So, all who are within the sound of my voice (Reading my article.) Prepare!
You can see it in the eyes of the younger ones, anytime the word “Festival” is mentioned. What does our “Fall Fest” have to offer you ask? (As well you should.) Fall Fest is music and FOOD! (Of all types). Vendors with…EVERYTHING, you could ever want. Or don’t know you need, yet. There will be contests and competitions. Drawings for MANY quilts, or other things you might need for the cooler months ahead.
And THEN: the “Classic Car Show” Classic automobiles from all over the map, come to display their beautiful cars! Add to that, there will be Classic (I refuse to say oldies) Rock and Roll from the 1950s & 60s. This brings back soooo many memories to everyone walking around. (I’m not saying the special gleam you see in several older folks’ eyes when they remember the big back seats in these cars.)
Get ready, and prepare for …all kinds of weather during Fall Fest. Gather up your goodies, and decorations. Offer to help with the Fall Fest, the Rotary can’t do it all alone. Enjoy and see you all at Townsend, MT Fall Fest 2024.
