Class Of ’74 - 50th Year Reunion

Class of 74

Hard to believe it’s been 50 years since our class of over 50 renegades graduated from Broadwater County High School. After several months of preparation, locating old classmates and making contact, the celebration finally happened on September 13th and 14th. Several of us met for dinner in Helena. After several comments of “Who’s that” and “Now I remember” we all got to know more about the “rest of the story”. Some classmates had spouses tagging along and others didn’t. Although there were many of us from close by, some came from as far as San Antonio Texas, Tucson Arizona, and California.

The next day, some took a tour of the museum in the early afternoon and then several gathered at the school for a tour led by Jim Riddle. Jim was able to give us the history of all the changes. Many were amazed by the new additions and changes since having graduated from here. Some classmates reminisced about teachers and experiences endured and also savored in certain classrooms. The only classrooms left that had housed us were in the junior high.

Next was the final gathering spot for the reunion, the Cook Mansion grounds. More reminiscing, and “Boy, you sure haven’t changed”, or “Lots of gray hair now”, and many other stories were exchanged. After a catered meal, the fun began. Bill Kirley MC’ed the evening with questions for all to win prizes designed and produced by Dan Moudree. Dan couldn’t make it, but his prizes were cherished by those who produced the winning answers to his quizzes. Dan even custom-built a stunning wristwatch commemorating the event, which was raffled off, and the $520 garnered was donated to the Radersburg School Conservation Fund. Susan Hooks had designed and fabricated some very nice keychains also commemorating the event.

Thanks to all who helped organize the reunion, especially Bill who did a lot of the legwork, along with others, to make this a special event for all. Also, thanks to former teachers Jack Gillespie and spouse Judy, Gay Ann Masolo, and Terry Love (representing her husband Marvin Love) for coming to make the day even more special.
