August Future Farmers of America

August is always the month when everything really starts coming together for the Broadwater FFA Chapter. It starts with our officer retreat at the beginning of the month where we set our goals and plan all of our activities for the coming year. We then host our Welcome Back BBQ and Ag Olympics, a fun activity to encourage new members to join our chapter.

Our officer retreat lasted from August 6th - August 8th, 2024. This year, it was very successful as we completed our Program of Activities at one time. Now that it’s finished, we can start acting on everything we’ve planned. Not only did we complete our Program of Activities, but we also set goals for ourselves and our chapter as well as some team building. After all, the officer team is the group that the general FFA members look up to, so being good role models is an important part of our officer duties.

Our first big event of the year, once we completed our officer retreat, was the Welcome Back BBQ and Ag Olympics on August 20th, 2024. Announcements went out on social media to encourage general members and students who are interested in our chapter to attend. We also sent invitations to all of the advisors in our district to encourage participation from other chapters. We were joined by the Belgrade FFA Chapter and our chapters, as well as a team of advisors, competed to see “Who’s the Best in the Southwest”. It was exciting to have another chapter attend, and we plan on inviting other chapters again in future years.

Overall, I think August was a successful month for our chapter, and I’m looking forward to the activities we have planned for the rest of the year.
