Family of George Kinnick
George Kinnick was born on April 12, 1937, in White Sulphur Springs, MT, and passed away on September 1, 2024.
At an early age, up on the Horse Prairie Kinnick homestead, he learned a love for the land and farming. Childhood was a true testament to wagon rides and learning the tricks of the trade. School didn’t agree with him much, but George was never shy of hard work and commitment. He shared many memories of shoveling coal into the basement of the old Ringling house, the poor farm and working various jobs as a young adult where he mastered the mower in a hay field. George spent many years working on the Crabtree Ranch.
At the Crabtree Ranch, George met the love of his life, Diana “Dee.” George loved his wife more than anything and loved having her kids, Jason and Lara, be such a large part of his life. George and Dee were married for 18 wonderful and happy years before Dee passed away in 2012.
George loved the land, his old Farmall tractors, anything mechanical, a good Hereford cow, a good ‘ole cheese sandwich, as well as an adventurous road trip. Most of all he loved helping his many friends and neighbors along with his wonderful church family! He will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lois Kinnick; nephews James Horne and Bruce Horne; niece Shalina Kinnick; and his brother-in-law Jay Horne. He is survived by his brothers Jeff Kinnick of White Sulphur Springs, MT and James (Vanda) Kinnick of Townsend, MT; sisters Marion Horne of Great Falls, MT and Merle Kinnick of Billings, MT; stepson Jason (Tina) Stroh and their son Benjamin of Leonardtown, MD; stepdaughter Lara Stroh of Port Orchard, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Anyone who knew George was met with a big smile no matter what!
A funeral service for George will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 403 Houston St. W., White Sulphur Springs, MT 59645. Burial will take place at Mayn Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, MT 59645 following the funeral service. A reception to follow will be held back at the church.
