On August 17th, Montana Rotary District 5390 celebrated Paul Harris Fellows in Missoula. Townsend Rotarian, Patrick Plantenberg, was recognized with a Paul Harris Fellow from Montana Rotary District Governor, Shawna Secker, for his years of service to District 5390.
WHAT IS A PAUL HARRIS FELLOW?
Rotary started with the vision of one man, Paul Harris, in 1905. Rotary International now is one of the largest service organizations in the world. The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty through its many service projects.
Montana District 5390 contributed $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation in Plantenberg’s name, so he could be recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. A Paul Harris Fellow recognizes an individual who contributes $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation or has that amount contributed in his or her name. That is a gift to The Rotary Foundation and an opportunity to do even more in the world through the Foundation.
Being named a Paul Harris Fellow is not unique. There are over one million Paul Harris Fellows worldwide.
Rotary Club of Townsend members have a long history of giving to the Rotary Foundation and has many Paul Haris Fellows. Twenty-five of the current members are Paul Harris Fellows! Seven deceased members of the club were also Paul Harris Fellows. Eight current members have multiple Paul Harris Fellows. Two additional deceased members are multiple Paul Haris Fellows.
