"Boy Scouts Make Conservation Tour"
Townsend Boy Scouts enjoyed a very interesting conservation tour last Saturday conducted by assistant Scoutmasters, Dave Fischer and Dave Wing.
Before leaving for the forest the words conservation and environment were discussed so that the Scouts would better understand what they saw.
The tour consisted of going up Sulphur Bar, then to Cabin Gulch and down North Fork. Different forms of plant life were pointed out. How they related to wildlife and soils was the main topic of discussion.
All Boy Scouts must make a field trip of this nature or take part in a conservation project before becoming a Star Scout.
Those making the trip were Dave Brammer, Brent Helmick, Wade Wing, Bill Kirley, Greg Sautter and Buddy Horne.
