MT 43 News Staff Reporter
This year’s 4-H Livestock Sale brimmed over with enthusiastic bidding from individuals and businesses from not only the county but from the Bozeman region as well.
After Missy and John Rauser’s outstanding barbequed beef dinner for the bidders, they settled in under the Pavilion. The stands were full. Bidding led by long-time auctioneer Dean Folkvord, began quickly.
The sale brochure write-up encouraged bidders to buy. “Through livestock projects, youth learn the responsibility of selecting and caring for a quality market animal.” It goes on to say the 4-H members learn real-world skills like record keeping, critical thinking, sportsmanship, goal setting and decision making. According to Alison Kosto, Broadwater County Extension Agent and 4-H Manager, some of the sales receipts go towards the kids’ college funds.
