Rodeo Clown Prepares for a Dangerous Job

The rodeo would not be complete without the rodeo clown, Joker Jett. From Great Falls, he travels all over the state to different rodeos. From walking along the tops of railings, fishing in a bucket, to hiding in a barrel, the seventeen-year-old never fails to put smiles on the faces of the audience. Going into his eighth year of being a clown he has a very simple routine before each rodeo. Jett says, “I just look at jokes. I write down jokes on the back of programs to help me remember them. Other than that I just paint my face.”

Jett does a fantastic job at keeping the crowd engaged and loud. Cracking jokes about fishing is his specialty. Not only does the clown provide comic relief for the audience, he is always attentive and ready to help the cowboys in case of injury. Overall, the National Rodeo Association (NRA) Rodeo concluded successfully without any major injuries reported. The rodeo would not be the same without the dedicated cowboys or the entertainment from the clowns.
