Letter To Editor Water Rate Increase - For The Record

This letter is in reply to the recent article in the paper about the water rate increases in city services.
I served on the Townsend City Council for 18 years, at which time I, along with a few other members, suggested a slight increase in utility fees each year. Our thoughts were that this increase in fees would be used for future replacement costs, which were most likely to happen. This also would have eliminated this huge rate increase that is happening at this time. It was shot down every time by the remaining council and mayor.
So please do not put this cost increase burden upon the past council members. Some of us tried to prevent this from happening.
