The Historic Canton Church Hosts the Ruby Valley Boys AND Barb Wire
The Historic Canton Church will continue our Summer Schedule of Events on August 9 at 5:00 pm with the Ruby Valley Boys and Barb Wire. Our events are always free – although we do accept donations!
The Ruby Valley Boys and Barb Wire is a band made up of Jim and John Anderson, Steve Wilcox and Barb Pearson and they are a popular event at the Canton Church.
John and Jim Anderson own and work the Anderson cattle ranch, on the south end of the Ruby Valley. Steve, the guitarist, manages a ranch as well. Barb is a fine horsewoman who has a Masters in Education and has taught and run a daycare center. They all sing, and they all love their music and take pride in the band.
Wilcox moved back to Madison County and the three boys ran into each other, leading to the formation of the Ruby Valley Boys in the 1990s. “Now we’re more like the Ruby Valley Geezers and good ole what’s her name,” Jim said.
The Ruby Valley Boys and Barb Wire have played at the Canton Church many times. The last time was to a very full Canton Church in 2022. John and Jim Anderson have played there many times with their sister and brother-in-law Joan and Tom Eliel.
The Historic Canton Church was built in 1875-1876 and is one of the few surviving buildings from the town of Canton which was flooded during the creation of Canyon Ferry Lake. All our events begin at 5:00 pm, but the Canton Church will be open to visitors from 3:00-5:00 pm before events.
