Minis Take the States in Townsend
Rachael Elliott-Brug
Last Thursday, the streets of Townsend were alive with the distinctive hum of Mini Coopers as hundreds of the iconic cars passed through town. Around noon, locals were treated to an impressive spectacle as these colorful vehicles made their way through, stopping to shop and explore.
The variety of models, paint jobs, and accessories was nothing short of remarkable. This lively invasion was part of MINI TAKES THE STATES (MTTS), a biannual event where a close-knit community of MINI car owners embarks on a cross-country journey. Driven by consumer loyalty and a shared passion for the brand, MTTS offers an unforgettable adventure along some of America's most scenic routes.
MTTS is more than just a road trip; it's a bucket list experience filled with excitement and camaraderie. Participants navigate twists and turns, exchanging smiles and waves with fellow enthusiasts. Whether a seasoned participant or a newcomer, MTTS provides a unique opportunity to explore the open road and create lasting memories with a passionate community.
This year’s tour kicked off in Albuquerque, New Mexico, drawing drivers from as far as Florida and beyond. Over ten days, the caravan traversed the northwestern states, culminating in Seattle on July 21st. As the festivities conclude in Washington, the Coopers will head home, with some taking the scenic route through Canada and down to Chicago.
The 500-car tour travels with its own camp hosts, emergency services, and film crews, ensuring a smooth journey for all participants. The private social media page for the group boasts nearly 7,000 verified MINI owners, showcasing the strong and vibrant community behind MTTS.
