Heat Wave!

Heat Wave!
Ok, this is insane! This is Montana, I came up here for the cold, and ice & snow. What is this crap? I know, just wait it WILL change. I think I’m becoming soft in my old age; I do love the early mornings with the sun just starting to peek out over the mountains. That is great especially (as I’ve said many times before) watching the town come to life is fun and interesting.)
Now I feel the heat begin to rise by 10:00 and start thinking “ok what can I get done before the sun starts to sear the skin from my bones?” the evenings are not bad, as the sun is sinking low. Watching (I’m always watching, don’t you know.) as the sky turns darker and the blues come out. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Especially in any older city, as the sun goes down it’s “Magic time: the blue color starts to show best in every old stone building. (This is a photography thing.) the air becomes magic, with everything becoming clearer and sharper. No, I’m NOT talking about after a few whiskeys, just watch as the evening creeps up on the downtown area.
But I digress, “SQUIRREL”. (I sometimes get distracted by shiny things.) This heat wave is just not ANY fun! I know the people out on the lake probably love it. However, walking around here in town- especially while “yard sale walking”, is no fun. Luckily local folks were prepared, setting up their tables in the shade, even though they had to move every hour. This is killing heat people; this is the kind of heat that you NEED to drink water REGULARLY! Sun screen is all well and good, but staying in the shade is better. Why don’t they have the yearly county yard sale in say…October? Have it before the Ghost stroll. Then folks can get their costumes at the yard sale. NEAT!
I have already heard many people say they will take cold weather, instead of hot. I agree, I love the cooler weather. IF you have to be out in the heat, take precautions. Slow down and do things in the shade, if possible, always drink water or hydrating drinks. (NO not Beer, J.B. at least not until after sundown.)
Prepare, and stay healthy oh my people. The cool weather will be here before you know it, the Old Farmer’s Almanac says so. It will be flannel shirt season soon.
