Helena, Mont. July 16, 2024 — The Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest is pleased to announce the selection of Carin Vadala as the acting deputy forest supervisor.

“Carin’s land management experience on complex issues and her background in managing wildfire will benefit the Helena-Lewis and Clark team throughout the summer and fall,” said Forest Supervisor Emily Platt.

Carin has been working in the federal service since 2010. Early in her career, she worked as an environmental educator and interpreter working seasonally for the National Parks Service and eventually transitioned to land management planning roles in 2010. In 2014, Carin joined the Forest Service leading land management planning before transitioning to serve as a district ranger on the Colville National Forest in Washington state.

Carin has a background in wildlife and fisheries, fire and fuels operations, and parks, recreation, and tourism management, all of which will provide a wide range of support to the Forest’s management programs. One of Carin’s core values is building relationships and trying to find common ground where we know we can work together with partners. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, biking, running, and paddling.

When asked about the position, Carin said, “I am excited to join the team on the Helena-Lewis and Clark. Over the next few months, I look forward to meeting our valued partners and supporting the ongoing efforts to manage this beautiful landscape.”
