Dear Townsend Friends

I just wanted to say thanks for all of those that were looking out for our four-legged friends over the 4th of July. The loud booms are pretty unnerving for some of our animals. Our dog Maggie has occasionally gone for a “walk about” and we have nice neighbors that have called us or helped her get back home in her own yard. On the 4th Maggie got scared and took off, ironically, she ran to the closest Fireworks stand for refuge. Mike was nice enough to call us so we could come get her. I saw several posts on Facebook trying to help people find stray animals. Please put tags on your animals with your name & number so they will have a voice to help them get home.

I appreciate that Townsend City is proactive about helping reunite animals with their owners. In Great Falls they lock the animals up and charge you a bunch of money to get them back. The city charges $10 for a dog license which is reasonable and if that tag is used once, to reconnect you with your pet, it is well worth it. Most dogs aren’t homeless strays, they are someone's family, trying to get home. Thanks, Townsend!
