Family of Wayne Edward Herrington

Wayne Edward Herrington was born to Wayne and Irene Herrington in Townsend, Montana, on May 16, 1945. Wayne served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968.

While living in Caldwell, Idaho, he worked as a carpenter and met Janet Rogers and her children, Kasey and James. Wayne was a natural father—he and Janet welcomed their son Brent in 1974. A great teacher and adventurer, he taught his children to fish, garden, build, and explore on many family trips.

As a business rep for Northwest Carpenter’s Local 131, he advocated for workers’ rights, serving as a bridge between workers, employers and the hall. Committed to the common good, he extended help to friends, family and non-profit organizations. In his off time, Wayne delighted in tending his garden and sharing produce with others.

In retirement, Wayne and Janet traveled until he was diagnosed with cancer. He died in Kennewick, Washington on February 7, 2024. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Prevel and Lois Olsen, and daughter Kasey Herrington. He is survived by his wife Janet, sons James (Holly) Green and Brent (Jamie) Herrington, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, siblings Lilian Arden, Kathy Hill and Ernie Herrington.
