Let’s Talk About Food!
With all the crazy politics talk everywhere, let’s talk about food! Nice transition, eh?
I love to eat as you can see by my waistline. Most times we don’t think about the types of food we want, whatever’s easy is good. I think if you are running around in town, most times it’s “Oh this restaurant is close to the stores we are going to, let’s just eat there.”
That gets to be too easy, and not healthy! As I am having to watch my sugar intake, things have changed DRASTICLY. IF you try to actually THINK about what you are eating instead of just where things get interesting. I love a good sandwich! However, “bread bad” mostly. We have found the Sara Lee, 45-calorie whole grain, or wheat bread. Very YUMMY, and only 45 calories per slice, nicely done!
We just went for the first time to Peking China restaurant in Three Forks. Excellent food, it was SO FILLING. Great food, but again I didn’t think about all the fried food being full of those sneaky, carbohydrates. CRAP! Good food, not so good for you, I can’t win. I have been much better, bringing my A1C (Blood sugar) down; not easy. These foods are sneaky, I did stumble onto a fantastic “sugar-free” group of stuff. I love Chocolate, I think everyone does. In the pharmacy, they have these incredible chocolate candies, Russel Stover variety GOOD STUFF! Delicious and sugar-free, AND this is the thing that makes if great. The sweetener in them is “Stevia” (Remember that word there will be a test.) Stevia is one of the BEST sugar substitutes ever. I love carbonated soda, again BAD! Grrr, hold your horses, (did anyone ever actually say that?) in Helena there is a health food store beside the Good Samaritan thrift store, called “Whole Foods” in there (Or at “Super 1 foods”) there is a soda that is sugar-free, yeah, I know they are all over just carbonated water with a tiny bit of flavor. (Again, hold your horses,) In Wally World, also known as Wal-Mart they have the flavored drink mixes, like Crystal Lite. A bit of these powdered mixes, also NO sugar, and you have Ta Dah the carbonated soda the we love. And NO SUGAR. Huzzah!
Between these breads and sodas, I can stay sugar-free, and ENJOY things. Mostly. Back to foods: pizza can be GREAT; our own Deep Creek Pizza is very nice. To me, Bullman’s on the way to Fort Harrison is outstanding pizza. It’s the whole brick oven-fired Pizza. I have tried to stay away from Burgers, not always successfully, but eating like most everything in “Moderation” is better!
So, go be and eat healthy, find your happy place. Also, exercise regularly! It helps keep you healthy, honestly, would the old Sarg steer you wrong?
