Coffee Nook Opens at Reading Leaves Bookstore

MT 43 News Staff Reporter

Jonathan Rivers has always wanted to open a coffee shop. Originally from Butte, he yearned to be his own boss in a business as he had worked for “giant corporations” for many years in Colorado. After selling a home in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and moving to Montana, things started falling into place.

His girlfriend Adrienne had connections: she is a friend of Rachael Brug who owns Reading Leaves. Rachael had mentioned she would like a coffee and tea shop in the bookstore. With huge amounts of work on all their parts, including applying for a grant to install a restroom for handicapped customers, the coffee shop has opened.

Jonathan envisioned a cozy living room with sofas and easy chairs. A quiet area with books all around. The newly opened Coffee Nook fulfills that vision. He has planned a grand opening on July 4 and will have breakfast sandwiches and paninis on his food menu. A complete menu of coffees and teas is coming.

Currently, he is offering all kinds of coffee drinks. His coffee beans are locally roasted by John Cassidy of Toston. Cassidy is a coffee consultant and businessman who has opened three shops in Montana. He sources his beans from Honduras and Peru. Cassidy ships beans all over the United States including, Seattle, the Carolinas and one other coffee shop in Helena.

The Coffee Nook is open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and can be reached at (406) 490-8238.
