Dance Instruction a Hit at Queen City Swing Band Event

Dance instruction was apparently the key to success for the Queen City Swing dance at the Lodge Saturday night.
Several couples, including a young couple preparing for their wedding dance, learned to waltz and two-step. Professional dance instructor Tim Pattison of Helena led the group who enthusiastically stomped, twirled and glided toward a new-found talent.
Pattison who is retired and lives in East Helena, has taught ballroom dancing for 35 years. He came out of retirement for the evening and plans to come back for later performances in Townsend. He grew up in Minnesota but came to Montana and began teaching dance in 1983. He taught private lessons through those years but also gave group instruction in Helena.
Many of the dance students joined a crowd of dancers for the evening of big band music performed by the nine-piece orchestra.
Queen City Swing performances are hosted by Broadwater Community Theater and are sponsored by 2024 sponsors Townsend Flooring and Cabinets, James and Deanna Koester, Jan Hubber, Townsend Rotary, Watson Irrigation, Patrick Plantenberg and Mary Mistek and the Bird’s Nest.
Additional sponsors are Judy Schenk, Tom Perry, Bob Saxby Dan and Jeannie Mainwaring, Ron and Mary Ann Salladay, Beth Ihle, Helena Handbasket and STOKE.
