American Legion - Post 42 honored our fallen veterans this Memorial Day May 27, at 11:00 am at Memorial Park on Broadway in Townsend, MT.

Many Townsend residents attended. The residents of the Billings Clinic transitional care facility came over to the park, enjoyed the beautiful weather and joined us in honoring our veterans.

Larry Westfall, our Post 42 commander led the ceremony.

Post Chaplain Holly Hendrickson and Auxiliary Chaplain Judy Lund, led prayers and spoke the names of Post and Auxiliary members who have passed since 2023 Memorial Day.

Sen Daines’ office was represented by Eliza McLaughlin. Eliza read a heartfelt letter from Senator Daines. Townsend Mayor, Vickie Rauser, gave a very profound speech. Jane Gillette, our State Representative and Post 42 member shared her military history and gave honors to those who have given their lives for our freedom.

Johnny Kougioulis and Channel Stevens sang the National Anthem.

The Post honor guard performed a rifle salute and taps were played.

Many thanks to the Post, Auxiliary and SAL members who consistently make our events run smoothly and honor our veterans, their families and our community.

A free/donations taco bar lunch was provided by Post 42, Mark Boaz and Dave Corner, with Post and Auxiliary volunteers served, up a great meal.
